₱893-Million Solar Project Powers Homes and Businesses Across Bataan with Clean Renewable Energy

Bataan residents and local enterprises are poised to benefit from an expanded renewable electricity supply bolstered by an ₱893-million financing arrangement supporting a major solar installation expected to serve the region for decades.
Security Bank has finalized the refinancing of the 17.4-megawatt Solana Solar Beta Solar Power Project situated in Hermosa, Bataan. The facility commenced commercial operations in May and is projected to generate approximately 35.5 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.
A substantial 10-megawatt portion of the facility's output is committed to Peninsula Electric Cooperative Inc. (PENELCO) through a two-decade power supply contract, ensuring stable renewable energy availability across the region.
Enhanced electricity reliability strengthens business confidence for operational expansion and capital investment while providing regional households access to a more balanced energy portfolio. As electricity consumption accelerates throughout the region, the integration of renewable generation reduces reliance on conventional power sources and bolsters grid stability within local communities.
The financing arrangement represents a landmark collaboration—Security Bank's inaugural partnership with Climate Fund Managers and Norfund, two institutional investors dedicated to supporting clean energy development across emerging markets.
To date, Security Bank has structured financing for 24 renewable energy installations nationwide, representing 4.30 gigawatts of aggregate installed generating capacity. The institution's broader sustainable finance portfolio has accumulated ₱116.95 billion in disbursements as of May 2026.
This investment aligns with the Philippines' broader renewable energy expansion strategy, reinforcing efforts to increase clean power penetration and support long-term energy security across diverse regions and customer segments.
