Australian-Backed Solar Manufacturing Giant Launches Operations in Batangas, Creating 500+ Jobs
The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has officially registered a major ₱3.34-billion solar manufacturing facility operated by an Australian-backed enterprise, marking a significant expansion of renewable energy production capacity within the country.
Philippine Aurion Solar Technologies Inc. and PEZA executed a Registration Agreement encompassing the facility, which produces solar wafers, solar cells, photovoltaic modules, inverters, solar mounting infrastructure, and battery energy storage systems.
The manufacturing operation is situated at the First Philippine Industrial Park in Batangas and represents an investment exceeding ₱3.34 billion by the developing company. The facility, which commenced operations following its establishment in September of the previous year and subsequent PEZA export enterprise registration, has already completed construction and activated full manufacturing operations.
According to PEZA, the enterprise has successfully recruited and trained more than 400 regional professionals and technical specialists to support its solar manufacturing operations.
Long-term projections indicate the project will generate approximately 508 direct employment opportunities while simultaneously facilitating technology transfer, professional workforce development, and the strengthening of the nation's renewable energy manufacturing infrastructure.
PEZA Director General Tereso Panga characterized the investment as emblematic of continued interest in cutting-edge production for the clean energy sector. "We welcome more companies bringing advanced technologies and manufacturing capabilities to the Philippines, especially as solar energy continues to grow into one of Peza's largest and fastest-growing investment sectors," Panga stated.
Panga further noted that PEZA remains committed to fostering a consistent, predictable regulatory framework as renewable energy investments proliferate throughout its economic zones, thereby supporting sustainable expansion of the domestic solar manufacturing industry.
The facility's establishment represents a milestone in the Philippines' efforts to develop domestic solar manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on imported renewable energy equipment.
