How the solar panel calculator works
Our calculator translates your monthly bill into an estimated system size using Davao's average solar irradiance (about 4.8 peak sun hours per day) and a residential rate of roughly ₱12.5/kWh. We then divide the required kilowatts by 550W panel output to give you the number of panels needed.
Savings assume a 80% offset — realistic for grid-tie systems without batteries. Add a hybrid battery bank and you can push offset closer to 100% while gaining brownout protection.
How many panels do I need?
For every ₱1,000 of monthly bill you'll typically need 1–2 modern 550W panels.
How long is payback?
Most Philippine homes recover system cost in 4–6 years, then enjoy 20+ years of free power.
What size should I get?
Aim to offset 70–90% of consumption. Oversizing wastes money if you can't net-meter.
